Eugene R. Mallette
President, CEO, and Director
With more than 30 years of service to the Company, Mr. Distefano has intimate knowledge of all facets of Company's operations. Acting in the capacity of Director of Maintenance, Mr. Distefano was responsible for the maintenance and management of the Company's aircraft. Under his direction the Company has increased aircraft utilization and limited extensive maintenance down time as a direct result of a Pratt & Whitney PT-6 turbine engine service time extensions, granted to the Company by the FAA.
Mr. Distefano holds an Aircraft and Engine Repair certificate and is an Airframe Inspector. Mr. Distefano is active in all day to day management decisions, as well as, deployment and maintenance operations for the Company's 26 aircraft. As a result of Mr. Distefano's able management, the Company enjoys an industry leading on-time performance record with the United States Postal Service. Mr. Distefano is married, has five children, and resides in Provo, Utah.
Max A. Hansen
Secretary/Treasurer Director
Max A. Hansen is a valued member of the Company's executive advisory team. For over two decades, Hansen has been General Counsel and Member of the Board of Directors of the Company and also serves as Secretary-Treasurer. He has also acted as an advisor to CEO Gene Mallette.
Mr. Hansen is a veteran attorney maintaining an active legal practice for over 32 years. Hansen is an active member of the bars in not only Montana, but Utah and California. He is a past President of the State Bar of Montana and has served for almost two decades as a delegate to the American Bar Association House of Delegates. He is also a past President of the National Caucus of State Bar Associations, past member of the ABA Nominating Committee and sat on the ABA Standing Committee for the Federal Judiciary. Hansen is also a member of the ABA Section of Taxation and sits on the Sales, Exchanges and Basis Committee of the Section. Martindale-Hubble, an attorney rating system, has bestowed upon Mr. Hansen its highest rating of AV and Hansen is also a Fellow of the American Bar Association, an honor bestowed upon only a small percentage of attorneys in the U.S.
In addition to his role with Alpine Air, Hansen is the owner of his own law firm, Max A. Hansen & Associates, P.C. and is President and CEO of American Equity Exchange, Inc.(AEEI), one of the first 1031 qualified intermediary companies in the Rocky Mountain Region. AEEI and its affiliated company, Reverse Exchange Services, Inc. have assisted taxpayers for more than 17 years in structuring and completing tax-deferred property exchanges through its offices in Montana, Utah and California. Max is a Certified Exchange Specialist(CES), member of the Board of the Federation of Exchange Accommodators(FEA) and is a past President, Treasurer and CFO of the FEA. He serves on various committees of the FEA and has appeared extensively before professional groups and on panels of experts around the country speaking on the topic of property exchanges.
Mr. Hansen earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of San Diego, School of Law in 1976 where he was a member of the Law Review. Max also earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Carroll College in Helena, Montana in 1971 where he maintained a four year Honor Scholarship.
In addition to his law and business-related affiliations, Mr. Hansen has fulfilled various civic posts including a five year term as the Chairperson of the Police Commission of the City of Dillon, Montana. He also served as a part-time instructor at University of Montana-Western in Dillon, were he taught courses in Probate and Estate Planning, Business Law and Human Resource Management. He has been an active member of local Chambers of Commerce and other community boards and associations in Dillon, Montana and Tremonton, Utah. Mr. Hansen is married to Sheena N. Hansen and resides with his family at his homes in Utah and Montana.
Bill Distefano

Joe Etchart
Chairman of the Board
After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carroll College in 1970 Mr. Etchart worked in the insurance industry in Seattle, Washington and San Francisco, California. He returned to his family ranching enterprise where he continues to serve as President of Hinsdale Land Company in Glasgow, Montana. Hinsdale Land Company concentrates on commercial real estate investment and development in western Montana. Joe also operates The N3 Company which is involved in the purebred Angus business. Joe has been associated with Alpine Air since 1999 and has served as Chairman of the Board since 2005.
Mr. Etchart’s career as a Montana rancher has earned the trust of his fellow cattlemen where he has served as a Member of the Board of Directors of Montana Livestock Ag Credit, Inc. since 1985, twice serving as Chairman of the Board. Montana Livestock Ag Credit is one of the premier Ag lending intuitions in the Pacific Northwest. Mr. Etchart also served terms as President of the National Public Lands Council and was twice elected Chairman of the Western Livestock Producer’s Alliance. He was a charter member of the Governor’s Advisory Committee on Sportsman/Landowner Relations.
Mr. Etchart has served in numerous civic, political and appointed posts in the state of Montana where he has earned the respect of his professional colleagues and elected officials. Mr. Etchart had the distinction of serving as Campaign Chairman for Governor Marc Racicot’s first successful campaign. Mr. Etchart is married, has four children and resides in Glasgow, Montana.
